Unfinished business

Ø       Playground Addition- Thank you so much to all who volunteered to help install the new playground!

o        $15817.20 for swing set, concrete, fabric, pizza, water, nails, boards, etc.

o        Pea gravel was not ADA accessible, rubber mats were too costly, and so we went with ADA mulch.

o        The old Swing was broken when taken out to relocate.  A new one costs $3489.50.  PHS has already paid $1500 toward it.  Balance is $1989.50.  PHS asked that we pay half of the balance.  Mrs. Stevens made a motion to pay the total balance.  Mrs. Cicora seconded. All were in favor.

o        Boy Scouts donated an ADA bucket swing.

Ø       The Vice President position became open in the summer.  Michelle Matthys has been filling in until the present day.  A motion was made by Mr. Rehl to have her step back into the role for the next 2 years.  A second was made by Rachel Thompson.  All were in favor.

Ø       Pridewear

o        At a meeting on August 2, 2008, Custom Inks was voted on to supply Pridewear for PSA.

o        4 bids were collected in total.

o        The vote was unanimous.

o        Order forms are going out in this Friday folder.

o        3 orders in the school year.  Fall, holiday time, and spring.

Ø       Back to School Decorations

o        Stacy Young-chairperson

o        School looked great.

o        Some trouble getting volunteers the morning of 1st day of school, so decorations were amended.

Ø       Back to School BBQ

o        Kris Tierney-chairperson

o        Stayed within budget and even made a few dollars profit.

o        Comment was made that they didn’t get a soda, even though they paid.  No way to control how many pops people were taking.  Need better monitoring system.

Ø       PSA Directory

o        Rachel Thompson-chairperson

o        Volunteers have been great.  They are almost done, should be out next week.

Ø       Scholarship

o        Awarded to 1 boy (Nick Bush) and 1 one girl (Kristy Simms) from HHS (PHS alumni) going to college.

o        9 applicants in total this year who wrote an essay about how PHS furthered their education.  A committee was formed and essays were read and voted on.

Ø       Kyle Wright came in to speak about the Junior National Leadership Conference he attended this summer in Washington D.C.

o        PSA sponsored him $500 out of our Angel Fund.

o        Mr. Rehl commented that he received emails from the leaders of the conference saying that Kyle was “exemplary”.

Ø       BooHoo Breakfast

o        First year for gathering after parents dropped their kinders off for the first day of school.

o        About 40 people in the morning and much less in the afternoon due to a busing complication.

o        Suggestions were made to provide nametags next year and also to detail some of the PSA events.

New Business

Ø       Mrs. Williams requested to have a parent volunteer to take pictures of the Junior High classroom events and submit them to the local papers.

o        For example: Shakespeare Day, and when “Ulysses S. Grant” comes to PHS.

o        Packets are going home on 9/19/08

o        Assembly will be on Monday September 22nd.

o        Volunteers still needed.

Ø       Market Day is in need of help.  They are very short on volunteers.

o        Pie Push is coming up.

Ø       Family Culver’s Night

o        PSA would get 10% of the profit

o        5-8 p.m. on a given night

o        Possibly one in the fall and one in the spring.

o        Stephanie Koch will handle posters/flyers/silent auction table at Culver’s.
